SMOOTH JAZZ THERAPY REVIEW:

UK born and based writer, producer and keyboard player Oli Silk was first noticed at Trippin N Rhythm in 2004 as the producer of the self titled album by British sax player James Vargas.  His own 2006 solo debut, ‘So Many Ways’, on the same label became an instant success and garnered the massive radio hit ‘Easy Does It’ that hung around for more than six months on the chart of most played on smooth jazz radio across the USA.  ‘The Limit’s The Sky’ followed in 2008 and ‘All We Need’ was released two years later.  Now he is back with the highly accomplished ‘Razor Sharp Brit’.  It’s an interestingly eclectic project that signposts Silk’s growing musical maturity; He writes or co-writes all eleven tracks and the collection is enhanced by featured performances from some of the most significant talents in contemporary jazz. CUSTOMER REVIEWS:

Oli, my man from another land, is bringing his particular flavor that you’re sure to savor, neighbor! From the opening salvo, At Your Service, it clearly outlines just how good this trip is going to be. It’s been a little over 3 years since Mr. Silk’s(has to be literally the smoothest last name ever!)last release, and the anticipation has been feverish for those of us who follow him. It is truly an amazing experience to hear how much his musical ability has grown, so tremendously, since his first release with Danny Sugar, Fact or Frictions, as the musical duo Sugar & Silk. That recording has such a rawness to it, truly unrefined, leaving just a glimpse of what I and so many others have come to love about him. His showmanship is pensive, as well, so when you witness him LIVE!, he makes the cost of admission so much more worth it. Below I have reviewed Razor Sharp Brit, but I did in a way that ‘sings’ the flow of each track, the essence of each one so that by the time you ‘Press Play’ you will have already put the children to bed, or off to school; you will just gotten off work or are getting ready to slip into something a little more comfortable. OR, JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN, you have just decided to crank up your car, roll ALL your windows down, sunroof included, and let Oli BLAST ALL OVER YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD!  Derrick via AMAZON.COM

I have all of Oli’s cd’s and cannot name a favorite. Love his style of smooooth jazz! Razor Sharp Brit is as good as any of his previous releases. Tracks 1,2 &7 are probably my favorites. Oli always adds just enough vocal tunes to keep it mixed up too. Get this one if you like head noddin’ jazz!  Jazzman Ron via AMAZON.COM
